Probably more to inform the viewer, this is more like 'Yeah, but three seasons back you said that.', 'I lied? I lie all the time, why are you surprised?' I like the later seasons more (Except 5 of course, every-one hates 5) because the overal plot gets extremely complicated by that point. Youtube review, I disagree that the story was 'too convoluted', the ridiculous complexity of it was fun and for some strange reason a lot of shows have some golden rule that all lies must be resolved by the end of an episode. It's even better than DS9, and more ambiguous and open. And also to the concept of 'story arc' to the next level, blurring the line between 'to be continued' and not. Oh, it also gives a new definition to the word 'expanded cast', not really a clear line between what a main character or recurring character or guest character is. Also, it uses regional accents so if you can't stand a good deal of Indian, Cockney and Irish accents. Whatever has happened is pretty ambiguous. Never the absolute star of the show, some fans interpret him as the main antagonist to humanities cause, others as the tragic hero who failed to save humanity if one reads between the lines and turns out mad against humanity for betraying him. Have to say that this series gives a new definition to the term 'shade of grey' and certainly to the term 'any-one can die', only one character was featured in all seasons as a main character.
